I, Zack Poitras, am a writer, actor, director, and creator of all sorts of fun things. My work has appeared on MAX, HBO, NBC, Peacock, Discovery Plus, IFC, as well as all over the ‘net.

Myself and best friend and collaborator Matt Klinman have a show on MAX and DISCOVERY PLUS - FUNNY OR DIE’S HIGH SCIENCE costarring us and PAUL BETTANY! Check it out! I’m very proud of it.
A short film I produced, wrote and starred in, Scoop Me Up, premiered at the 2024 Brooklyn Film Festival! It was directed by my talented good friend, Tom Levin. There’s a lot more information here!
I was Head Writer of Amazon’s 2024 Upfront (Their first Upfront! Previously they were just doing Newfronts). It was a good time and I’m glad I got to meet the Fallout Robot.
I had a good time writing Amazon Advertising’s 2022 and 2023 Newfronts show, hosted by Amy Poehler at Lincoln Center.
I had an awesome son, Wyatt, born in Dec. 2021. He was born on the NY streets, outside the hospital. Here’s a link to that story if you’re interested!
I ran the New York Marathon! It was a lot of fun and I was so tired at the end that I had to ask a cop to help me open my Gatorade. It was really hard for him to open, too, so that felt nice.
I had the privilege of writing and goofing in the first season of The Kids Tonight Show, available to stream on Peacock!
I had a good time writing Amazon Advertising’s 2021 Newfronts show, a streaming even hosted by Catherine O’Hare.
I made a web series called ‘Chub-Z and Zack’. Watch a few eps!
I made an illustration of a tortoise you should check out and poke around.
I made three episodes of a podcast called Wondercop.
I wrote for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Here’s a video of “High Kickin’,” idea by Jimmy, song by myself and Dan Chamberlain. Here’s a video of me speaking very fast in “Reel-y Fast Trailer Recaps”.
I was the fake page for The Tonight Show’s Christmas Sweaters for many years. It was a lot of fun. Here’s a video of one of those times.
I had a daughter, Zadie Boon. I still have her. She rules. I don’t have a link because she’s just a human being.
I helped out on this HBO Special: “The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish”.
I was head writer of Funny or Die, here’s a couple videos I worked on. The Shirtless Painter, starring my good, beautiful friend Pat O’Brien, and this video I made about how Trump is a bad speller.
I perform with the UCB House Improv Team Women & Men. I love all of my teammates very much, they’re all funny people with huge hearts. Here’s a random video of us performing.
While at Funny or Die, I made this animated web series, Good God! with God. This one with Batman is one of my favorites.
I also made this comic book series, Pigeon Man. Unfortunately it’s no longer really viewable on the web, but hopefully we’ll put out a book soon. You can watch Pigeon Man at San Diego Comic Con, though!
I also make lamps.
Before I was head writer, I was a staff writer and performer. Here’s a video I made at the 2016 Republican National Convention, and here’s one about Game of Thrones, a show people used to like.
I also wrote many, many articles for Funny or Die, but those have all disappeared from the internet after they switched hosts.
Around this time I got married to my beautiful wife, Caroline. Here a photo of us making lo- heyyy, wait a minute, (wags finger) ah-ah-ahhhh! That’s not for you, you naughty little visitor!

I’ve directed many sketch shows at the UCB and taught sketch there as well. I’m sad it’s gone in New York.
I’m a proud member of Pangea 3000, a sketch group. We were written up in the New York Times here. Here’s a link to a video of our stage show “Pangea 3000 Sucks.”
At the UCB I also put on a show about whales.
I wrote for the Onion Sports Series Get Out Of My Face, “G.O.O.M.F.” and that was a good time.
I was a contributing writer for The Onion. Here’s one of my favorite headlines I wrote: “Laid Back Ant Colony Refers To Queen As ‘Judy’” and “Shitty Zoo Promoting Hell Out Of New Fruit Bat.”
I made this web series The Hand Show. That’s Phil Jackson’s hand there. What a weird thing!
I wrote this McSweeney’s piece: “Pickman’s Chicken Farm Is Now Cruelty Free”.
I made this Dear Santa letter that went incredibly viral because everyone thought a real kid did it.
To save up money to move to New York City, I lived with my mom and worked at Elmer’s Breakfast House. Here’s a link to their online menu.
At Boston University I was in Slow Children at Play, BU’s premiere sketch troupe. I don’t know what that means, but it was a lot of fun. Here’s a link to sketch from that time that’s bizarre to watch now and doesn’t quite hold up.
I went to Central Catholic High School in Portland OR.
A child psychiatrist diagnosed me with having an “overactive imagination.” True story!
I went to St. Anthony’s and Our Lady of the Lake. Bethlehem is the name of my preschool.
I was born February 21, 1986, in Portland, Oregon.
I’m Chippewa, Blackfeet, and Muncee Indian. (As well as French Canadian, German, and Irish)
My great grandfather, W.R. Hogsed, was involved in a Supreme Court Case in Montana in 1921.
The Abts family on my mother’s side descended from mud movers in Germany.
