HERE’S SOME
CONTEXTUAL CONTEXT
& EXEMPLAry EXAMPLES:
2024 Amazon Upfront
Zack was Head Writer for Amazon’s first Upfront. It was a fabulous success! Overseeing a team of writers and in collaboration with Amazon leadership and the Freeman and Sparks agencies, we made a fun, breezy, informative show that wowed ad-buying audiences with a mix of star-studded cameos and bold programming and ad-tech announcements.
2022 Newfronts
Zack was also the Head Writer of Amazon’s 2021, 2022, and 2023 Newfronts. Here’s host Amy Poehler and guest Paul Scheer in the middle of a show segment he wrote called, “Teach Amy Twitch.”
2022 Newfronts
Deadline’s write-up concluded with a joke Zack wrote for Amy’s monologue!
Cisco's Webex One Expo '23
Zack helped Cisco with the writing and production of their Webex One Expo, in which Cisco executives and guest speakers showcased the latest in Cisco tech.
Scoop Me Up: Film Poster
Zack created the movie poster for my short film Scoop Me Up, which premiered at the Brooklyn Film Festival in 2024. This includes the tagline, “Inspired by a real spoon.” If you see the short, you’ll understand how f***ing deep and next level that tagline is.
High Science: Hover Sand
Along with the narrative half-hour scripting, there was a lot of visual information to convey in High Science (available on MAX). Some onscreen writing was straight-up factual, some jokey.
High Science: Aliens of Antiquity
Created for a parody of Ancient Aliens on High Science.
High Science: H.E.R.B.
We were making a weed parody show, and also an educational show, so we had fun with our text-based justifications.
High Science: Brandt's Bat
Within a video-game themed episode on living forever, we conceived of thematic ways to show the strengths of some creatures’ living abilities over others.
High Science: Egyptian hieroglyphics
For High Science’s “Ancient Egypt” episode, Zack learned how to translate actual hieroglyphics in order to be able to accurately show where certain Egyptian creation stories originated.
High Science: Moon
Another example of having fun with info-dumping: in the show, Zack had just asked their hyper-intelligent robot bong, Dr. Oh, “Why is there the moon? And why!?” We then used that same language as our infographic title.
Bud Light's Summer Stimmy
Bud Light had a whole Summer Stimulus campaign, and Zack was one of the writers of their actual, massive Summer Stimmy tome.
Bud Light's Summer Stimmy
Unfortunately, the Summer Stimmy is no longer viewable online, but here’s a screenshot from the ad showcasing some of the Stimmy Zack wrote.
Flush Lamps Website
Zack wrote all the copy for his lamp website.
Flush Lamp Site Example 2
Another example from Zack’s Flush Lamp website.
Flush Lamps Product Example: Mintnight
Here’s a product title and description example from the Flush Lamp website.
The Occasional: William Clark's Lost Journals (Pants Bear)
Zack wrote long form comedy pieces for Funny or Die’s magazine The Occasional. Here’s a little snapshot from his piece about William Clark’s lost journal, which contains his sightings of bears wearing pants.
Modern Day Treasure Maps
Here’s the only map Zack could recover from a branded post he made with Funny Or Die (He believes the brand was Starbucks).
The Onion
Zack wrote for The Onion for a few years, and here’s a headline of his from 2011 that proved to be incredibly prescient.
Sesame Workshop: Brainstorm Moderator
Zack has moderated brainstorm sessions for Sesame Workshop for years now, and have a blast doing it. The hit MAX show MECHA BUILDERS is one of the many realized concepts to come out of their day-long sessions.
